More Than a Logo

In the mid 50’s two local Catholic activists decried the absence of a Catholic home for the aged in Akron. Through their hard work and efforts their vision was transformed as construction began in late 1962 for St. Edward Home. The home became an outward symbol of faith and hope in action upon it’s opening in 1964.

Today that symbol of faith has changed to reflect the organizations many upgrades, new services and physical growth. The new logo “mark” reflects and captures the core values of The Village. The four arrows represent a different level of care continuum: Independent Living, Assisted Living, Assisted Living Memory Care and Skilled Nursing/Long Term Care. Each of the four arrows interconnects and converges to create a cross. A symbol of faith that reflects faith based care.

Color choice was well thought out to reflect the levels of care. Green which is a color that reflects hope and life was chosen to represent Independent Living. Green is also a reminder that the mission of the church is to share the hope and life of Christ with the world. Purple was chosen to represent Assisted Living. This color reflects royalty, penance and spiritual fulfillment. It also encourages creativity and imagination. Yellow is a symbol of renewal, light, joy and celebration. This color was chosen specifically for Memory Care and reflects our view that they are to be celebrated every day. Nursing Care is represented by the color blue which is symbol for heavenly grace, living waters and the Holy Spirit.

“It took several months of planning with input from residents and staff at The Village to create our new logo. Many modifications were done by Knox Marketing” stated Annette Walters director of marketing and admissions. “This is home for our residents and it was very important to have a logo that reflected their thoughts and opinions” she continued

The Village will soon display new signage on Smith Road that will reflect their new logo. Updates have been made to their Facebook and Twitter pages.
