Independent Living

How do I reserve an apartment?
You will receive an admission application and financial worksheet for completion. After completion, return both to our admissions department. There is a required $1,500 application fee that is 100% refundable if the applicant chooses not to live at The Village of St. Edward.
How long will it take to obtain an apartment?
The length of time varies due to factors such as number of discharges.
I am still driving. When I decide to stop driving, what transportation services are available?
Our chauffeur is available on a six-day-a-week basis. The Village of St. Edward offers scheduled trips to the grocery store, bank, post office, shopping mall, doctor’s appointments, beauty and barber shops, and area churches. We also provide transportation to various activities during the week.
Is covered parking available?
Yes. There are parking garages available for an additional monthly fee.
May I bring my pet?
Yes. There is a non-refundable $250 deposit for pets. We allow common household pets less than 20 pounds (fully grown). We require inoculation records in accordance with state and local law.
Will I be obligated to a lengthy lease?
No. After your initial 60 days, you may turn in a 30-day notice to vacate.
Is it possible to receive additional care if needed after a hospital stay or acute illness?
Yes. If you need more assistance, either long-term or short-term, our Resident Services Coordinator will assist you with that process.

Assisted Living

What is the process for accommodations at The Village of St. Edward?
After we receive the admission application and financial information, our admissions staff will assist you in obtaining the needed admission orders from your primary care physician.
How long does the admission process take?
The length of time for accommodations can vary due to such factors as number of discharges and the number of current campus individuals in need of Assisted Living services.
Is there an entrance fee or deposit required?
There is a required $1,500 application fee that is 100% refundable if the applicant chooses not to live at The Village of St. Edward.
What personal possessions do I need to bring?
Your Assisted Living apartment is not furnished. Room dimensions will be provided so you know what special pieces of furniture to bring. You may decorate your apartment to your taste. We will also provide you with a list of items that you may want to bring.
I am not sure how much help my loved one needs. Can you assist me?
Our RN Nurse Manager is available to assist. She is available to do assessment at your home or wherever your loved one is living. We also offer a free lunch with our RN Nurse Manager and an assessment will be done at that time.
What payment arrangements can be made for services?
Assisted Living is private pay.
Will my loved one have to leave if they run out of funds?
No, your loved one can stay in their apartment. We will assist and direct you with other payment methods such as Medicaid waiver.

Rehabilitation and Nursing Care

Is a resident required to have advanced directives before admission to The Village of St. Edward?
A resident is not required to have a Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care or Living Will when admitted to The Village of St. Edward. Copies of these forms are provided to residents upon admission and we encourage residents to consider such matters.
Are there limits to what personal possessions a resident can bring with them to The Village of St. Edward?
Room size varies to a certain degree. Residents are encouraged to bring with them possessions which make them feel at home and comfortable in their surroundings.
What payment arrangements can be made for long-term care services?
The Village of St. Edward long-term care nursing accepts private pay, Medicare, private insurance or Medicaid.
Do I need any information from my primary care physician?
Yes. For admission, we will require a signed order along with a history and physical. History and physical must be done within 5 days of admission.
Does The Village of St. Edward take skilled admissions from the hospital?
Yes. The Village of St. Edward accepts skilled admissions from local hospitals. Admission is based on insurance verification/authorization.
If my loved one is a resident at The Village of St. Edward and is hospitalized, will they be allowed to return?
Yes, your loved one will be allowed to return to The Village of St. Edward. Additional questions should be directed to the Director of Admissions.

Memory Care

What is Memory Care Assisted Living?
Memory Care Assisted Living is designed for those with a primary diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Our Memory Care is not designed for those with primary diagnosis of mental illness.
What are the criteria for admission?
Our Memory Care Assisted Living Director of Nursing will assess all potential residents to ensure they will benefit from the services offered. Potential residents must have diagnosis from their primary care physician of Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.
May I bring pets?
Pets may not reside in our Memory Care Assisted Living. Pet and pet therapy visits are encouraged and allowed based on our policy and procedures.
