Dear Residents, Families, Community, and Employees,

I wanted to take the opportunity as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday to express our heartfelt Thanks for each of you for choosing to be part of The Village Family. Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving filled with family and friends.

There have been some recent changes in the guidance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding visitation that we would like to share with you. The changes are intended to allow increased visitation for Residents. While the regulations apply only to the Nursing Facility at Fairlawn (under the direction of CMS), the principles will be maintained in all areas of our communities.
• When the county COVID-19 community level of transmission is “substantial” to “high” (as rated by CMS), all residents and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, should wear face coverings or masks and physically distance, at all times. In areas of low to moderate transmission, the safest practice is for residents and visitors to wear face coverings or masks and physically distance, particularly if either of them is at increased risk for severe disease or are unvaccinated. If the resident and all their visitor(s) are fully vaccinated and the resident is not moderately or severely immunocompromised, they may choose not to wear face coverings or masks and to have physical contact. Visitors should wear face coverings or masks when around other residents or healthcare personnel, regardless of vaccination status. At this time, county transmission is categorized as high in all Ohio counties.
• While not recommended, residents who are in quarantine or isolation can still receive visitors. In these cases, visitors should wear appropriate PPE and should be aware of the exposure risk.
• While it is safer for visitors not to enter the facility during an outbreak investigation, visitors will be allowed in the facility. Visitors should be aware of the risk of visiting during an outbreak investigation and adhere to the core principles of infection prevention. If residents or their representative would like to have a visit during an outbreak investigation, they should wear face coverings or masks during visits, regardless of vaccination status.
As a reminder, visits should be held in the Resident’s apartment or room. Visitors are not permitted in common areas.
As a reminder, cumulative data on COVID-19 cases is available through the long term care dashboard at https://coronvairus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/dashboards.
Thank you for your continued trust in The Village. Please reach out at any time with questions, suggestions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Danielle Maur, Vice President of Operations
