Fairlawn, OH: The highly anticipated Memory Care facility at the Village of St. Edward’s Fairlawn campus finally opened its doors to residents this past Monday, March 6th, 2017.

With initial plans beginning nearly three years ago, the Village obtained long-awaited State approval early last week and officially opened the brand new, 28-unit facility. As described by Director of Admissions and Marketing at the Village, Annette Walters, “it was certainly a test of patience, but we believe it is well worth the wait.” Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was Memory Care.

The state-of-the-art Memory Care unit at the Village offers specialized care for men and women coping with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Compassionate staff members allow residents as much independence as they would like with physical tasks, while devoting special attention to their increasing mental and emotional demands. They offer stress free activities tailored to the residents’ particular likes and interests.

The stylish, new facility is designed to feel like a loving home for residents, with a cheerful, open kitchen plan and cozy living rooms to create a sense of warmth. It includes a den, fully equipped with board games and movies, where residents can host family gatherings, in addition to a special room for sensory stimulation.

This facility provides a new option for potential residents in addition to the unique offerings in each of the Village’s other housing units, including assisted living, independent living, and skilled nursing.

Some eager residents have already begun to make the Memory Care Unit their new home, decorating their rooms with their unique styles. The Village of St. Edward is looking forward to welcoming new residents home.
